Paul Lokech Foundation Expands Peacebuilding Programs to Three New Districts
The Foundation has officially launched peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives in three additional districts, bringing our total reach to communities across six regions.
The Paul Lokech Foundation is proud to announce the expansion of its flagship peacebuilding and conflict resolution programs to three new districts in northern and eastern Uganda. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the Foundation's mission to promote peace and nonviolence across communities affected by decades of conflict.
Building on the success of our existing programs in Gulu, Amuru, and Nwoya, the new initiatives will serve communities in Kitgum, Pader, and Abim districts. These regions have historically been among the most affected by armed conflict and continue to face challenges related to inter-communal tensions, displacement, and limited access to justice.
Our peacebuilding approach is rooted in the principles championed by the late Lt-Gen. Paul Lokech, who firmly believed that lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, reconciliation, and community engagement. The programs facilitate community dialogues, train local mediators, and establish peace committees at the parish level.
Each district will benefit from a comprehensive package of interventions including conflict early warning systems, trauma counseling services, and economic empowerment initiatives designed to address the root causes of conflict. We anticipate reaching over 15,000 direct beneficiaries in the first year of implementation.
The expansion has been made possible through generous support from international development partners and the commitment of local government authorities who recognize the importance of community-driven peacebuilding efforts.
